Brand Story
In 1957, founder Jay Pritzker purchased the Hyatt Hyatt Inn near Los Angeles International Airport and established the Hyatt brand accordingly. In the following decade, Jay Pritzker, along with his brother Donald Pritzker and other family business interest groups, jointly cultivated the company into a private management and hotel company in North America, and became a publicly listed company in 1962.
In 1968, Hyatt International Hotel Group was established and later developed into an independent listed company. Hyatt Hotels Group and Hyatt International Hotels Group were privatized by the Pritzker family business interest group in 1979 and 1982, respectively. On December 31, 2004, all hotel assets owned by the Pritzker family business interest group (including Hyatt Group and Hyatt International Hotels Group) were integrated into the current Hyatt Hotels Group.
